Spencer Oxnam

SPENCER OXNAM

Principal Viola

At age 4, Spencer watched a School Spectacular performance, featuring a ‘Smooth Criminal’ soloist Harry Ward. A year of begging to play the violin commenced. Reluctantly, his parents let him take on violin lessons, deciding the nagging was getting very serious… 15 years and an instrument switch later, he still loves the string instrument life, and wants to play whatever orchestral piece is thrown at him.

Spencer has been previously supported by the Corinna D’Hage Mayer String Scholarship at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Other Musical Achievements include: HSC Music Encore 2025, Henderson Prize 2025, and a ‘Strike a Chord’ Monash Chamber Music Prize 2024. He also has a joy of inspiring young musicians, conducting and educating High School String Ensembles.

Outside of Music, Spencer has an appreciation for the Internal Combustion Engine whether it be in a sports car, boat or attack helicopter. His dream is to be an Air Retrieval Paramedic, rescuing people who have found themselves in a tricky situation in the bush.
