It is a funny thing, but when I am making music, all the answers I seek for in life seem to be there, in the music. Or rather, I should say, when I am making music, there are no questions and no need for answers.
Experience the raw power of Gustav Mahler's monumental Symphony No. 7 as The Sydney Youth Orchestras transforms the industrial magnificence of White Bay Power Station into a cathedral of sound. In this bold end of year spectacular, some of Australia's most talented young musicians will tackle Mahler's "Song of the Night," bringing its journey from darkness to blazing light to life within the towering turbine halls of this heritage-listed powerhouse. The symphony's mysterious nocturnal passages and triumphant brass fanfares will resonate through the vast industrial space in ways Mahler himself could never have imagined.
Don't miss this unique collision of past and future, as Sydney's historic power station – dormant for decades – surges back to life through the electric energy of youth. Under the baton of Chief Conductor Stanley Dodds, these remarkable young musicians will demonstrate why they represent the future of orchestral music in Australia. This unprecedented performance pairs one of the most ambitious works in the orchestral repertoire with one of Sydney's most spectacular industrial spaces, creating an unmissable cultural event that will close the year in unforgettable style.
