Symphonic Dances
The sweeping, heart-swelling work The Space Between Stars by Ella Macens is at home in this program, performed by The Sydney Youth Orchestra. It will guide the audience gently towards the dreamy, dulcet tones of the marimba as performed by the inimitable Claire Edwardes OAM in the Puts’ Marimba Concerto. Finally, this celebration of percussion continues, in the adventurous, romantic celebration of star-crossed lovers that is Bernstein’s West Side Story: Symphonic Dances.
Conducted by SYO’s 2021-2022 Conducting Fellow Leonard Weiss, this program champions the youth, energy and ambition of the incredible musicians on the stage.
