Jude Macarthur
About

Jude Macarthur is currently in his first year studying a Bachelor of Music (Performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium under the tutelage of Leanne Sullivan and David Elton.


Jude began playing trumpet at the age of eight, joining his local brass band and learning with local teachers James Pensini, Owen Morris, and Tyler Wilkinson. In 2016, at the age of 13, he joined the Sydney Youth Orchestras as a member of the Symphonic Wind Orchestra. He also played with the Peter Seymour Orchestra and the Western Sydney Youth Orchestra before joining The Sydney Youth Orchestra (flagship) in 2019. That same year, he toured with SYO to the UK, working with and performing alongside some of the world’s best musicians and conductors. Since 2018, Jude has played in various Australian Youth Orchestra programs, including 2018 Young Symphonists, 2019 National Music Camp, 2019 AYO February Season, and 2021 National Music Camp.


Jude has also performed with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Penrith Symphony Orchestra, and the Australian Romantic and Classical Orchestra’s Young Mannheim Symphonists programs. In 2018, he performed he performed as a soloist with Orpheus Strings, and will return as a soloist with them in November 2021.


Jude loves being part of SYO. He also loves beanies, crazy socks, and any music that is classical or folk!
