Direct Financial Support
With an average age of 20 years old, many musicians are attending university with almost half studying music at a tertiary level.
SYO supports our young musicians to have an impactful musical journey during this formative time.
85% of musicians receive direct financial support to be part of the orchestra through regional, tertiary, sibling, and financial hardship scholarships.
Through government support, private philanthropy, and Corporate Partnerships, all SYO musicians' fees, including those in The Sydney Youth Orchestra, are subsidised.

Providing the Professional Pathway
It is critical our musicians are provided with experiences by professional musicians, conductors, and administrators to ensure they are best placed to lead the next generation of orchestral music in Australia.
The Sydney Youth Orchestra is a launching point to diverse professional careers. With 76% of musicians already working professionally (as performers, tutors, and educators), and with alumni in every major orchestra in Australia, and in Orchestras around the world, your support helps SYO provide them with the best experiences to inspire, guide and launch their pathway to a professional career.

…to invest in the future
Building the Next Generation of Australian Artists
Investment in musicians while they are developing their craft does not just impact their lives, it forms the foundation of the music industry. Our musicians contribute to the richness of the musical community through the audiences they reach, the children they teach, and the connections they bring together.
All musicians are part of their school, university, or community ensemble, and many of them are already active as teachers, performers, and educators. These musicians are already shaping the cultural landscape, and ensuring a bright future for the artform.
