KHANG MAI
Khang started learning the violin at the age of 8, after learning piano for three years. After playing in an orchestra for the first time through the SYO strings program in 2018, Khang knew straight away that he wanted to become a professional violinist. Since then, Khang has gained much experience playing in various orchestras, from a local to national level. Some of his highlights include playing in the Arts Unit Symphony Orchestra as concertmaster from 2023-2024, leading the SYO Philharmonic orchestra in 2023 under conductor Steve Williams, and performing symphonies by Prokofiev and Mahler during the Australian Youth Orchestra 2024 Autumn and Winter seasons. Khang is currently in his 1st year of study at the Conservatorium under the tutelage of Goetz Richter, after learning violin with Leigh Middenway for 10 years. Outside of music, Khang enjoys going for long walks on the beach, and taking his friends out at night for a drive around the city.
