Joshua de Haan first began learning the trombone when he was eight years old. While attending Turramurra High School, he was involved in the The Arts Unit’s weekly ensembles, joining their Symphonic Wind Ensemble in 2019 and their Symphony Orchestra in 2021, and also performing in the School’s Spectacular Symphony Orchestra as Principal Trombone. Joshua graduated in 2022, achieving a nomination and invitation to play in the HSC Encore for Extension Music. In 2023, Joshua commenced study in a Bachelor of Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying under Nigel Crocker and Scott Kinmont. He has also participated in numerous competitions, most recently achieving first place in the open tenor trombone section at the New South Wales State Band Championships.
Joshua first joined the Sydney Youth Orchestra Philharmonic in 2023 as Principal Trombone under Steve Williams. The following year, he was appointed as principal trombone of The Sydney Youth Orchestra.
