Javier Mobellan is a long-standing member of Sydney Youth Orchestras, having started in the junior orchestras in 2010. He is the principal cellist of the Sydney Youth Orchestra as of 2023 and has performed in the flagship orchestra since 2019.

Under the tutelage of Julian Smiles at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Javier completed a Bachelor of Music (Performance) in 2022. He travelled to Europe as part of the Sydney Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra’s 2022 tour and has also performed with the Sydney Metropolitan Orchestra.

Javier has taken part in a variety of performance opportunities as a member of the Sydney Youth Orchestra, including the 2020 ARIA Awards, Xbox’s 20th Anniversary of Halo recording, the 2022 Sydney International Ballet Gala, the 2023 Coming Back Out Salon, the Sydney Eisteddfod 90th Anniversary Dance Gala, SYO’s Live at 50 Martin Place fundraising event and Carols in the Domain.
