Elizabeth Dawson

Elizabeth Dawson

At the age of 9, Elizabeth Dawson began her journey with the trumpet, being instantly attracted to the bright sound and shiny bell. Being the daughter of two music teachers, learning an instrument was always a guarantee, but nothing was ever as thrilling as playing in an orchestra.

Under the tutelage of Leanne Sullivan, Elizabeth completed HSC Music 2 and Extension with an Encore Nomination in 2020. The following year Elizabeth began her Bachelor of Music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where she continues to study under Leanne Sullivan and Principal Trumpeter of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, David Elton.

In 2020 Elizabeth joined the Sydney Youth Orchestra Philharmonic as principal trumpet, continuing to the SYO Flagship the following year. Since 2021, Elizabeth has performed with the Sydney Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony and Brass Ensemble. In November 2022, Elizabeth was selected for the Sydney Conservatorium Orchestra’s European Tour, performing in the UK and Germany.

Elizabeth has been regularly accepted into the Australian Youth Orchestra Young Symphonists Program and National Music Camp since 2018, performing as principal in 2022.

When Elizabeth isn’t in a rehearsal or practicing, she greatly enjoys teaching the trumpet to young aspiring musicians.
