Born and raised in the Blue Mountains NSW, Clare Fox began playing the clarinet at ten years of age. She completed a Bachelor of Music in Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium in 2019, achieving a high distinction average. During her studies, she was a recipient of The University of Sydney ‘Sydney Scholars Award’ and performed regularly as Principal Clarinet of the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra and Modern Music Ensemble.
Clare was Principal Clarinet for the Australian Youth Orchestra from 2020-2022, and participated in tours to Europe and China in 2019. She is currently a casual musician with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Opera Australia, Orchestra Victoria, Canberra Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared as guest clarinettist with Arcadia Winds.
In 2022, Clare was a finalist in the ANAM Concerto Competition, performing the Nielsen Clarinet Concerto with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
Her teachers include Christopher Tingay (2nd Clarinet SSO), Dean Newcomb (Principal Clarinet ASO), and currently studying with David Thomas (Principal Clarinet MSO) in her third year at the Australian National Academy of Music
