Charlotte He

Charlotte He

Principal Cello

Charlotte is currently studying at the Sydney Conservatorium with Julian Smiles, where she regularly serves as Principal Cello across multiple ensembles.

This year, she will be infiltrating the Conservatorium’s Wind Symphony on solo cello. Charlotte’s been part of the SYO family since 2018, and has had opportunities to play with Sir Simon Rattle, members of The London Symphony Orchestra, Benjamin Northey, Quatuor Van Kuijk, and of course, Stanley Dodds – a particular highlight being the chance to play string quartets with him. Charlotte has played in numerous masterclasses, most notably with György Kertész, Florian Simma, Hyung Suk Bae, Theodore Buchholz, and looks forward to another one this year with Camden Shaw, of the Dover Quartet and Curtis Institute of Music.

Owing much of her growth to the mentorship of Kate Morgan, Georg Pedersen, Annie Yang, Karen Carey, and James Pensini, Charlotte was awarded a full music scholarship from Santa Sabina College, and graduated with HSC Encore nominations. Charlotte now teaches at Abbotsleigh and Santa Sabina College, and is a casual musician at Trackdown Studios. She also loves playing chamber music, most recently performing a string quartet in the Sydney Schubert Society’s Schubertiade 404 – or, as she likes to call it, SSSS!
