AMELIA DILLON
Principal Clarinet
Amelia is in the final year of her Bachelor of Music Performance (Honours) degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying clarinet with Francesco Celata. She has performed in the Conservatorium’s New Music Ensembles and Symphony Orchestras as principal clarinet. Amelia has also performed in the Sydney Conservatorium’s Wind Symphony Orchestra, with whom she toured to Japan and South Korea in November 2024. She was awarded the Sydney Conservatorium Dean’s List of Excellence Prize in Academic Performance for 2024. It is a privilege for Amelia to have been part of Sydney Youth Orchestras since 2018, when she started in the Sinfonia Orchestra with conductor Brian Buggy OAM. In the following years she played in SYO’s Symphonic Wind Orchestra under James Pensini and was principal clarinet in the SYO Philharmonic for two years, where she gained exceptional musical opportunities playing orchestral repertoire with conductor Steve Williams. Amelia has been principal clarinet of the Sydney Youth Orchestra since 2024 under the inspiring leadership of chief conductor Stanley Dodds as well as Brett Weymark OAM and Dr Elizabeth Scott. Sydney Youth Orchestras have provided Amelia with many invaluable and enriching experiences, sharing music with a broad range of communities. She is grateful to have been involved with the Kid’s Music Playtime shows at the Opera House, a variety of chamber music opportunities and the 2023 Big West Tour orchestra. Amelia is honoured to be part of The Sydney Youth Orchestra and is very excited to play on their upcoming 2026 International Tour. She relishes the chance to play wonderful repertoire in some of the most renowned European concert halls. |
