Q. What instruments did you play in SYO? R. Violin
Q. What is your favourite memory of SYO R. Tours to USA and Denmark, rehearsals with guest Conductor Richard Gill, awesome concerts and friends.
Q. What role does music play in your life? R. Although I studied a BA/BMus at university, I didnt end up continuing in the music profession, but I have always found an orchestra to play with, both overseas and here and I still play in a community orchestra today and love it.
Q. What is your favourite musical repertoire from the SYO performances? R. There are too many to list them all, but pieces that come to mind are Rachmaninov’s 2nd (I think) piano Concerto with David Helfgott as the soloist, Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No.3, a Shostakovich Symphony that we performed in Newtown, I think perhaps it was 13. Mahler 5 with Henrik Pizarek!!
Q. What advice would you give young musicians today? R. Keep playing, it will bring so much joy to your life and keep you off your phones and in the real world!
