Gahyun is currently in her fourth year at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, pursuing an honours degree in Oboe performance. In 2021 and 2022, Gahyun learnt from Shefali Pryor, and now learns with Conall McClure. Gahyun has actively performed with various ensembles, including those affiliated with the Sydney Conservatorium, Sydney Youth Orchestras, and the Australian Youth Orchestra. In January of 2024, Gahyun attended Australian Youth Orchestra’s National Music Camp in Adelaide.

Since 2019, Gahyun has been a member of Sydney Youth Orchestras, where she started off in Symphonic Wind Orchestra and Western Sydney Youth orchestra. In 2020, Gahyun completed HSC Music 2 and Music Extension, and received an Encore Nomination.

Gahyun was invited to perform at her high school graduation service as a soloist with her school orchestra accompanying, where she performed the second movement of Graeme Koehne’s ‘In-Flight Entertainment’.

Gahyun has participated in various competitions throughout the years, such as the NSW State Solo competitions, where she was named ‘Champion of Champions’ for three consecutive years from 2019.

Upon graduating from the Conservatorium, Gahyun has aspirations to pursue further studies abroad.
